One phone due for upgrade and is month to month

Hi I have a phone due for an upgrade it is month to month right now. If I swap the upgrade to another line I'm sure this will extend the contract probably right ?

The only way to get a subsidized phone upgrade is to sign a new 2 year contract on the line that is eligible for the subsidized phone upgrade.
