one to many ring tone choices

I really hate having so many ring tones (factory)
I have 3 custom ones from my songs and its like finding a needle in a hay stack.

My question is, can I delete the stock ones or do I need root. It would be great if my custom ones appeared at the top or bottom of the list

If the custom ringtones are dedicated files, get your preferred audio app to remove the ID2/ID3 tags from the file. This will force the phone to use the file name instead of the song info. Rename the files with a symbol in front (- Ringtone 1) and they will move to the top/bottom of the list, depending on the phone's sort order. If you used your original full song mp3s, create duplicates and then remove the song info. I've been using this method for years. Let me know if it helps.
