One X Firmware upgrade problems

Hi guys,

Fairly complicated issue here but I'll explain as clear as I can:

1) I got a HOX from phones4u (UK) on Vodafone. There was an upgrade available from 1.28 to 1.29 at that stage, but I didn't install.
2) I had to return the handset so created a NANDROID backup before doing so.
3) I then got a new HOX from Vodafone directly, and restored the backup from the first handset
4) Everything's fine, but now there's no 1.29 upgrade available to install.

So, I want to upgrade to 1.29 but it's not available. Any ideas where I can get it from, and why it's not available?

I assume that the second handset (branded?) now has the original (unbranded?) firmware, so the update should be available?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Neil

Have u gone into settings to see which version u are currently running. It's possible your new phone came with 1.29 installed

Nope, still very much 1.28.401.9.

Even if it did come shipped with 1.29, as I say I installed my previous back up (based on 1.28). I figure the 1.29 update which showed before should show again.

I have found the 1.29 file via the Internet, but now cannot install. I've changed back to stock recovery, but how do I install the update now I'm back on stock (ie not Clockwork Mod)?

Yes...your phones4U phone was unbranded so they get updates that arent released in good time by networks.

I'm with a Branded phone (UK voda) and i believe I am on the same version...I cant check because my phone is being sorted out at HTC (wifi issue).

I'm surprised nothing broke...restoring a nandroid from one phone to the next is a no-no.

Are you rooted? If so flash a ROM. You can use titanium backup to keep your apps.

Not rooted? Maybe use an RUU.

Thanks, I'd be keen to know once you get your phone back. I assumed I'd get the unbranded update given I now have a phone with unbranded firmware, but perhaps not.

Yes I'm rooted, hence being able to install my nandroid backup from the first handset.
No sense flashing a rom, I want to stay stock, at least for now.

Thanks for the advice.
