One X occasionally loses ability to send texts, place calls

Had my One X for a couple months. Love the phone! (Hate AT&T!)

Every once in a while, my phone will get to a point where I cannot place or receive phone calls, send or receive texts. It shows that Mobile Data has been turned off, but it won't let me turn it back on. If I restart the phone, everything gets back to normal.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yeah there has been quite a few people saying that they are having this issue.

No fix at the moment....just keep doing what u are doing to resolve it. Or try turning airplane mode on and off...that normally works for me.

Same issue here. Doing the airplane mode thing doesn't work for me though, only fix for me is to restart my phone completely.

Yep, gone through THREE phones and they all did the same thing in the same exact circumstances. Really hoping its something that a software update can fix because having to send it in for a refurbished device is really unappealing to me at this point, and if it is a hardware problem within a certain range of model numbers/handsets, who knows if you'll get one that does the same thing. I paid a large sum of money for this phone, I would like an untouched one that WORKS.

It seems to happen to me when I'm in an area with low service for an extended period of time, like during a class in the bottom floor of a building. Fortunately it doesn't ever happen in my house, or else I would be missing a lot of calls and texts!

I've called HTC and told them I'd like the developer team to be notified, they told me the ticket was escalated and that I should call back but I keep forgetting.

People with the SGS3 are experiencing t the same texting issue and screen rebooting constantly, I think ICS issue truthfully.it's probably they're pushing jelly bean out so fast to fix it.

My SGS1 did the same thing in low signal areas. I turn off mobile data when I go to work, and toggle airplane mode before I turn it back on when I leave. Works around the problem. I think it is how the ATT modems attempt to connect- they stop trying after a certain amount of time, but the signal meter still works, so it LOOKS like you are connected. I don't think this is a HTC/Samsung issue, but how ATT codes their radios to work. I flashed 20 different kinds in my Captivate days, and while some behaved slightly differently, was always better off turning off mobile data in low signal.

The part that makes this worse, for me (since I am used to this feature on ATT) is the wifi problem in conjunction with it. So I go through the hassle of toggling mobile data/airplane mode (Switch Pro widget in notification bar for the win), and turn on wifi. Then the wifi problem hits you if you forget to shut it down first (also part of why I toggle airplane mode to clear things).

The wifi thing seems like an easy one to get fixed in an update. I would not hold my breath on the radio losing it in extended stays in low signal. Done that to me for two plus years on three different phones, including an iphone.

I called HTC again and gave them my phone info, they said that they're aware of the issue and are currently tracking which devices it is present on. I'd suggest that everyone call up their support and let them know as well, it'll only help. He said he didn't have an ETA for some kind of fix, but they're working on it hopefully.

This has happened a lot on my Evo 3d. I'm on my 3rd in less than a year. Not on my one x so far, but I've only had it 5 days.

Same here. Happened last night taking a ferry from Edmonds to Kingston in Washington state. Got in the middle of the sound and lost signal as usual. Got back to dry land and I was still unable to do send or receive anything. Had to do a hard reset, then everything was back to normal.

I have the same problem occasionally with my One X. In addition (and more common), my mobile data will just go away. It's says it's connected, but nothing loads. I've been in the middle of downloading when the data connection just drops off even though it still says I have a full connection. Cycling airplane mode fixes it sometimes, but I usually have to restart.
Anybody else have this issue or know if the 1.85 update fixed it?

I was having the issue with losing ability to make calls or send texts after being in areas where I was losing service (hospital or basement). I went to the att store and they took the phone off my account and put it back on and I have only had the issue once since then despite continuing to go to those locations

I went against my better judgement and got the One X (Let's say my EVO 4g wasn't a good experience) and I've already had a couple of the common issues over the last 3 days. My Wifi at home disappears, comes back full, disappears, comes back full then today I had to use Airplane mode on/off in order for a text to go through.

The only thing that makes me think it's an ICS issue is that my hacked Touchpad with CM9/ICS does similar things like randomly drop WiFI or lose ability to load anything even though I'm connected. My wife's iPad and our other devices have no issues at all with my router/network.

This not just an ATT issue. I have an international One X and I have the same issue. My phone has gone back to HTC regarding the poor wifi issue and I have raised the issue with the poor phone signal as well.

Hopefully my phone will come back all fixed and lovely.

It's not ICS- I got this phone after trading from the galaxy nexus. While those phones had their own issues, this inability to let go of a connection, even if you come back, never happened on those. Not on the tab10.1 either on ICS.

Tempted to flash cm9, and see if this goes away. Might let us know if hardware or software problem.
