Samsung currently has a promotion for the unlocked S8: $420 when you trade in any phone...which makes purchasing a OnePlus 5 for $475 a much more difficult decision. What thoughts can anyone give?
Truthfully, with the current Samsung promotion, I think the S8 is a better buy. I'm a huge fan of OnePlus and what they continue to do with the industry. The only advantage the 1+5 has in my opinion is the 8 gigs of ram on the one version. But, the caveat being, by the time Android needs 8 gigs you will have surely replaced that device by then. It would be one thing if you were going after the S8 at full price and had a budget of $499, i'd gladly suggest the 5, but I just can't justify it with the current Sammy offer. I saw a really good quote on Droid Life yesterday too from a fellow user. Basically, it was along the lines of you may get less software updates than the OnePlus, but Samsung doesn't over promise how often your device will see updates. IE, OnePlus has stretched the truth a little in the past on this issue and pissed a lot of customers off.

I would not go for Oneplus 5. Returned mine today.
The camera is not very good, it has no water-proofing and the worst, the screen lags like jelly when you scroll. They say it's "natural"
