AC Question

Hello,

My OnePlus One smartphone is charging rather slowly since a week or so.
If I use my phone while charging, it will go down in percentage! And if the phone is off it still takes really long to gain some percentages.
I'm was using my stock charging cable and adapter, but the charging cable won't charge at all anymore. I'm now using the stock adapter with multiple charging cables, none of these cables charge the phone like it would a few weeks ago.
I have this phone for a little less then 2 years now. My question now is: What could be causing this very slow charge? Because the battery of the phone goes down rather quickly now with normal use, but this shouldn't have anything to do with slow charging does it?
I have tried some stuff I saw in articles online: Cleaned out my port and clear cache partition. I would like to know if the slow charge is caused by a bad battery or a bad USB-port, because I could repair this. Even if the problem is something else, I would greatly appreciate anyone's help!

Welcome to the forums. Sorry you're having a problem. The slow charge could be the battery, two years is about eol for many of them, or possibly the charger has gone bad. I would not think you have a software problem at this point. If you can replace the battery, that would be my first choice as it could stand to be replaced anyway. If that doesn't help, the charger would be the second thing. Your other solutions are good to do anyway :)

Hey there, I made an account :)

It is possible that the problem lays within the charging cable because I'm now using charging cables that are not the original OnePlus cable. This is because my original charging cable broke.
I have used multiple charging cables already and it seems that they all have another charging current, The highest I can get with a random cable and a third party charger (adapter) is around 650 mAh. I have found that the normal charging current for the Oneplus One is between 800mAh and 1200mAh, and even higher with the screen off. Do you have any tips on this? Could the problem actually be the charging cable/current? Should I try more cables?

Thanks for your reply and help :D

Alright, then I'll try some more chargers and maybe even buy a new one.
One more question, would it help to buy a new battery, to get some better battery life?

I've tried to charge my OPO with other chargers and cables and the results were a lot slower than the original one. So my suggestion is to find a way to check with an original charger and cable to determine if it is the charger or the battery. Of course a new battery will help you but on OPO it is not that easy to be changed.

I have a similar problem although if I shut the phone off it will charge to 100% overnight. I don't know what is causing it except a deteriorating battery.
