That's right, my One X no longer is able to connect to WIFI for reasons currently unknown to me. I have done my research on this and it seems it is a hardware problem. So how the heck do I fix it other than bring it back, right? I'm really contemplating going to a new Iphone or back to my BB Bold.

Question is : is it really a hardware problem or can it really be fixed through software?

I really love my One X international version and hate to see WIFI die on it like that. I was even going to download the new updates to Google+ and the whole lot of Jelly Bean ready app versions.

Anyone got any suggestions on what I should do?

why would you dump it if HTC will fix it?

Is this the squeeze wifi problem? HTC has acknowledged the issue so I would imagine they will make it right.

I dread any solution that requires physical manipulation of any sort. It is just disappointing to think the best Android phone I ever had has to suffer a WIFI problem. So sad. I might even get an unlocked Galaxy Nexus just to run the new apps...

What is this HTC fix you speak of though?

So there's nothing I can do but contact customer support? Oh boy, why must my unit be the unlucky one?

It stays like this forever. I think I have no choice but to call HTC first thing in the morning...

looks like you have a sim card issue - turn your phone off, take out your sim, put it back in, restart your phone, see what happens.

Wait, that is neither the Loop Obtaining IP bug, nor the Squeeze to disconnect WIFI bug.

What you have described (and your description is pretty darned thin I gotta say) seems to be
a totally different problem.

How bout a sentence or two describing the situation?

It's very simple. I press the on button for WIFI and it never manages to even activate, which is switch on. It stays at the screenshot I showed earlier.

Plus normal 3G runs perfectly on it.

Plus I just tried putting in my sim again, WIFI still refuses to switch on, and after awhile it goes to the off position again.

Ok, but one more test.... (if you don't mind).

Tap the wifi symbol, not the on-off button,
Then in the next display, tap the on/off button.

Then see if there is any messages being shown, and if they are changing. If so, report what it says.
(I'm worried you are glossing over some messages that flash by rather quickly. It might be you are seeing the Loop bug, which eventually returns to a Unconnected status).

If not, (no series of message) and a power off-reboot doesn't fix it, It might be that your radio died. I've seen that happen before on Atrix phones, and the only solution was replacement.

No series of messages appeared, unfortunately. I'm back to my BB Bold for the moment. I will call HTC support first thing in the morning. Thanks all for your patience and help.

I have every mind to switch to something else, this is so disappointing.

Got it into HTC service center and they have decided to send it for repair. Woohoo, that's a relief. I guessed I overreacted a little.

W00t the HTC folks told me my phone is repaired and I can pick it up first thing in the morning, how the sweet sound of music rings in my ear :)

I'm glad that HTC stuck by their word and fixed the problem without giving you any issues.

They really upped their reputation in terms of customer service. 5 stars for service.

Hahah they actually changed the whole housing of the back, the whole battery and gave me a new wifi radio via a brand new motherboard. I'm essentially with a brand new HTC One X now...outstanding! What can I say?

I guess the advantage of the unibody construction is that more parts are integrated with each other, which means more gets replaced when just one thing goes wrong. :)

The only thing they didn't replace, then, was the display, basically.
