OP3 spontaneous reboot

I have been truly enjoying the speed and fluidity of the OP3 as I work to get it all set up for my personal usage and tastes. I was a bit leery after reading of rebooting issues while using Waze or Google Maps, but I have yet to experience a reboot in that scenario.

However, I did experience a spontaneous reboot this morning as I prepared to leave the house traveling to where I needed the phone to be quiet. So I switched the alert slider to the silent position while the screen was asleep, and promptly saw the circling dots commence indicating a reboot was in progress. When the screen came up, I had to key in my PIN to access the phone (normal after a reboot).

So, what to think now? Ride it out? Send it back? I figure I have until November 9th to take my 15 day trial to the end and am inclined to continue for now. I really like the OP3 and hope that was a one-time event. But now I have to say it causes me to wonder if the OP3 will be a reliable phone for me. And I don't want there to be any question about reliability.

Darn it. I'm already considering my plan C, just in case. Plan A was to get the 2016 Nexus, but then Pixel happened. So the OP3 *is* my plan B.

No problems with mine, if in doubt, get it replaced ASAP. (hope you kept your old phone to tide you over 😀)

I still have my old GS4. I plan to make other use of that as a dedicated Torque Pro device and maybe a dedicated nav device. But it may have to do backup duty too.

I don't know whether to get the OP3 replaced or not after a single instance of spontaneous rebooting. I'll monitor it for a while. But if it takes weeks to get a replacement, I may just return for refund and move to something else should it spontaneously reboot again.

To me, reliability is an absolute killer issue and is one reason I drive Hondas. ;) (not that they're perfect either, but they seem to have fewer reliability instances than a lot of other makes out there ... in my experience, of course).

Speed, as you still have some time of your return window, I would closely monitor the situation as you have only had the single reboot.

Hopefully, this will be a one off incident.

Wouldn't stress too much about it. Worst case scenario if you miss the return window just sell on swappa as mint condition.

Just remembered.... My pixel c rebooted the other day, first time it's happened since I bought it 7 months ago

That is my inclination and I hope you are right. My alternatives under consideration are going to be a bit more expensive, and not without their own set of cons. Sigh.

C'mon OP3-kenobi. You're my only hope!
