Android Central Question

Hi,

We have a Touchscreen kiosk running Android 5.1.

I am using the Gallery application and would like to point it to a network share on our Windows server using SMB.

Is this a possibility with Android? I am not totally familiar with the OS.

Thanks,
Jeffrey Pascone

You have a few options. You can use remote desktop for example.
You can put your photos on a memory stick and just attach it to the android device.

ES File Explorer and a few other file managers have SMB capability, but not photo viewers. If you're familiar with Linux (which is the OS Android is running on), and can create a folder on /sdcard, and somehow mount the network share to that folder, it might work - but you'd also have to rebuild the media database - run something like media.Re.Scan once everything is mounted. (Gallery and Photos don't find files in the filesystem, they look in the database to see what to show. Media Scan maintains that particular database.)
