Android 14 on Moto Edge 50 Fusion.

When.ever I start Google Drive I get the above error message.

I use G.Drive to share files between phone and 2 PCs. Only get this message on the phone.

I can share files on phone to G.Drive, never any permissions issues.

Yesterday ran Fuelio app and went to export to G.Drive, and got something wrong with directory structure. Tried Synchronize to G.Drive, got a progress bar for a fraction of a second then nothing

Clearly something is screwed in G.Drive. Only seems to be an issue on Android.

Any thoughts on how to resolve?

TIA

Are you using the converter for the app? https://fuel.io/faq_backup_help.html

I don't see any way to contact the developers for help unless they use social media (Facebook or Twitter) for that. Maybe other members are more familiar. I never heard of this app previously. I see it hasn't been updated since last October, so maybe it's out of date due to some changes in Google's API.

Thanks for your thoughts.

The app was last updated on 2025.01.15. The change log says"Google Drive Backup: Migration to new API".

So, in theory, should be as up to date as possible FWIW exporting to Dropbox works fine but I prefer G.Drive..

Also still need to understand the error message when starting G.Drive

Yes it is. The app works well, the only issue is with saving to Google Drive. Dropbox is fine. Given the error message I get when opening G is Drive app it suggests there is some problem there. But what and how to fix it I gave no idea.

Did you notice what I circled? Last update was October 2024. Perhaps the Google API changed since then but the app didn't update to use the new Google API. It might be a problem with the app, not Google Drive.

I have just remembered. When I was setting up my phone I inadvertently deleted or removed Google Drive - icon or app can't remember - and the only way I could get GD back, IIRC, was to create a shortcut to the GD files and folders.

Thus the icon I have is not the normal one. Makes me wonder if I am not really "starting" GD but just opening a file manager like tab to the GD file structure.

Which phone do you have? Google Drive should be preinstalled (and uninstallable) on any Android device, unless you rooted it and deleted it that way. Are you saying that when you bring up your App Drawer, you can't find Drive?

Try clearing the app cache and data for Drive in Settings>Apps, then Force Stop it. Then open it again and give it a few seconds to sign back in and re-sync. Does the error message persist?

As said in the OP it's a Moto Edge 50 Fusion running Android 14.

I found GD in Google group in the app drawer. Cooked it to the Google group on the home page and removed my icon

Starting GD no longer gives me the permissions message. So that's a great step forward.

Trying Fuelio to backup to GD one again produces the message on the attached screen shot .

I have logged and logged back in to no avail. The, possibly, odd thing, is that there's no sign of any Fuelio files or directories. I seem to recall that on a PC can see more things in GD than showing on my phone. But as currently in hospital having to do everything on the phone.

I have cleared cache and data but no difference

I think I will uninstall the app and start over .

I'm grateful for you pointing me to getting GD properly set up and no start up error. Thanks .

Whoops, sorry! I just spaced on the fact that you had mentioned your device in your OP.

Can you clarify what the remaining issue is? Is it primarily the issue with Fuelio?

Yes. The GD error on opening app is resolved.

With Fuelio I can export to Dropbox (not my preferred cloud) but get directory structure error with GD.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, have deleted cache and data. To no avail

Have replicated the Dropbox directory structure in GD. No joy.

Wondering if the error message is a red herring and the actual error is something different, e.g. a permissions error. Does anyone app need some permission set up to use GD?

There doesn't seem any method of contacting developers 🙁

I can cope with using Dropbox but would really like to be able to use GD.

After an exchange of emails this morning it's now working

Essentially the problem was the Google account settings to allow Fuelio access had got messed up. Probably my fault because of confusion with multiple accounts

Very helpful person at Fuelio.
