1- medium amount. No where near as much as a defender. Not as much as as dual layer case that you can separate. But more than a skinny hard plastic case. I don't think it's too bad. Get the speck candyshell if you want something just a bit smaller.

2- vertical no. It feels flimsy deploying it but it keeps the phone horizontal nice. I wouldn't classify as rugged. If you don't abuse it I see it lasting many deployments.

3-Grip is very nice. I like having the rubber on the outsides. Slick phones/cases get dropped easier. It's still not too bad to slip out of your pants too.

I would also look at the speck candyshell, I got the pop because that's what was in stores. If you put the two in front of me I couldn't decide.

I've been using the casemate pop case for a week now and absolutely love it. I tried both this and the speck candyshell in the store and chose the pop case because of the rubber grips and the fact that all the buttons worked properly in the case. I put on two different candyshell cases and both of them made the volume rocker work only sporadically at best. That frustrated me to no end. My only complaint so far is that the kickstand seems a bit flimsy for my taste. It doesn't feel like it is going to fall off anytime soon but if you accidentally stressed it, it would pop right off. As for the bulk these cases add, in some ways the pop case feels smaller than the candyshell, but they are pretty comparable. The best thing you can do is go to a store and see it for yourself, then order online for the cheaper price. Everybody has different preferences.

Get casemate "barely there" case.. I have used this case for my last 3 phones and to the untrained eye it does not even look like there is a case. It is a great case and adds almost no bulk and also does not really change the look of the phone much.

it can be used vertically, but it is very touchy. if you get it just right it will stay. i agree that it is a medium protection case and the grip is nice.

My dad just picked one up at the AT&T store. It's okay, but I prefer the Speck Candyshell that I got.

from what i can tell, the speck gives better protection, but the pop has better grip and a kickstand. depends on what your needs are i guess.

Got the pop case. Its great. Wasn't sure if I was going to get it based on reviews about its flimsy kickstand. But I'm glad I did. Coming from the TBolt, I really wanted a kickstand. Here's my thoughts...

This case has nice grip on the sides (it's a soft rubbery feel, not a "rough" grip like some other cases that have grip on the sides) and while its a bit thicker than the "skin" or surface cases, its not really that thick at all...perfect thickness for my taste and I like the kickstand a lot. It clicks into place when you open it and clicks shut so its not ever dangling. I like how it blends in too and doesn't protrude from back and risk getting caught on clothing. The phone slides in and out of my pockets easily with this case. Yes, the stand is thin so it doesn't feel anywhere near as solid as the TBolt, but I'm just happy I got this case. Maybe one day it will break, but its worth it and I think I'll be okay as long as I don't hulk smash it while its propped up. Oh, and my favorite...well, besides the stand...the buttons! The two other cases I tried without kickstands were nice but the skin over the buttons made it hard to press. This one the buttons are easy to press while still being covered and actually give a little "click" sensation which I love. Small thing, but its the little things sometimes that matter.

The only thing that I kind of wish was different was that the back center area is glossy and attracts fingerprints. Granted, I like the look...but I can see it getting fingerprint-y. :) Overall, I'm real happy with this case and appreciate the "TOUGH" coupon code post that saved me a few bucks when purchasing. Shipping was fast too. Chose free shipping, live in SoCal, and it arrived in about 4 days still. Nice!

im not liking the sides. Reminds me of reptiles.

I don't like the look of it much, but the grip is great. That to me is well worth it. It is hard to find a case with great grip on the sides and a kickstand.
