Optimus S Home button after 2.2.1 update

HI, Im new to Android Central and so far its awesome.
I woke up and am having so many problems with my phone.
I wasnt able to recieve messages cause my memory was to low. So I went through clearing catche and such and nothing was working.
So I figured sometimes that when i dont recieve messages ill pull my battery. So I did that and it reset my phone for me.
One minute I had 2.1 then pulled my battery and had 2.2.1.
Now my home button lights up when i hit it, But doesnt seem to wanna actually take me back home. Someone wanna help out. Thank You to anyone that can help.

The Optimus S shipped with 2.2 so I don't know how you went from 2.1 to 2.2.1?

Was your phone rooted? Custom Recovery? Sounds like your phone might have updated OTA - did you get any prompts to update?

I had a prompt like 2 weeks ago i think but it didnt really update.
And they are now. When I got mine it was 2.1.
No I was going to root but I cant know cause i have the ZVC.

I Just figured out too that i have zero lock screen. Even when i make it password protected I hit the unlock button and it goes straight to the phone. No sliding required.

You have baseband VC now? What did you have before all this?

Assuming you were running stock before this, I would just take it back to Sprint.

Thats what Im thinking. Yes I was running stock. I went On sprints Website and it said 2.2 I was like woah not even cool. Then rebooted my phone and I had to go through all of the essentials of a new phone again, then had 2.2. But Ill just take it to sprint. Thank you For your time

I'm having the same issue. I do however know my problem [which also includes a nonfunctional search and home button] was caused by me reseting the defaults for the launcher (in settings/applications/manage/all) I know the button doesn't need to be replaced because when I first flashed the Reborn and sROM all three buttons worked perfectly fine. I'm thinking about reflashing one of them and making a nandroid and trying to restore to that nandroid. wish me luck.

I've never heard or read about anyone having this issue before xbballbrandon23x.

My Optimus S shipped with 2.2.1 and the OTA was 2.2.2.

I actually had this exact issue, (home button not working), a few days ago, when I first flashed over to Drew's CM7, (after a complete wipe). I freaked out for a few minutes, but a reboot fixed it.

How do you folks suddenly have 2+ year old issues?? This thing came with 2.2.2 back in December 2010 and has since been OTA updated to 2.3. Where does 2.2.1 even enter the picture and why/how haven't you updated?? Somebody's making it up...
