optimus v battery life

for starters this is my first android phone

will rooting this enable me to find better ways to improve battery life???

i can't get 3 days on a full charge

It's a smart phone. If you use it even a little bit there is no way you'll get three days. That being said, the Green Power App has greatly improved my battery life on my Optimus V.
