hi guys;
so I figured we need a thread to list all the problems that appeared after the 8.1 upgrade.
here is mine so far:

  • BT issues - sometimes when I call a person from my car I hear a blank (cant hear the other side at all and they cant hear me)
  • TWITTER app crashes even though its not opened at all. I get pop ups saying it crashed. but again, its not opened but it is installed.

thats it so far but I have been using 8.1 for a few hours only.
thanks.

Don't have any yet. The random app crash issue was happening while on Nougat for me, so I don't think that's an Oreo thing. I'm not having Bluetooth issues as of yet. Cellular signal is still a bit weak though.

Been in the 8.1 beta for weeks and didn’t notice any app crashes especially with twitter as that’s one of my most used apps.

After I updated this morning I'm noticing my nav. bar goes dead whenever my keyboard is open. The back arrow even switches to point down to close the keyboard but none of the buttons work. As I'm typing this on the AC app, the only way I can close my keyboard is if I press the "post reply" button. If I decided not to post what I'm typing, the only way I can even leave this screen is if I swipe down the notification shade and select the settings app which then opens the app and closes the keyboard.
While playing around with the notification shade I just noticed the keyboard is still open and active behind it. I tried to swipe the notification shade back closed and it only registers the swipe as keyboard strokes. The shade wouldn't swipe closed but I added letters to the data entry field.
I should add, I'm not using the stock Gboard and I can't seem to switch back to it for testing as there doesn't seem to be a default keyboard choice in the settings for 8.1 anymore??
Hopefully they can get this fixed quickly.

quick update on the car BT issues.
incoming calls: I dont seem to have any issues
outgoing calls: around 50% of calls yield no audio at all. a bypass is going to speaker and returning to BT again. note that my nexus 6P with oreo 8.0 had even worse BT issues so I am not sure this is an essential specific thing. there is a huge thread on the nexus forums about this and google was aware. I just thought its fixed in 8.1 but I guess not.

Delete all the keyboards you have installed, it should default back to Gboard. Run the phone in safe mode and see if it does it there as well. I have zero issues with the official 8.1. So far buttery smooth!

Thanks for the response. I had figured out to remove my keyboard from the manage keyboards menu this morning. The issue doesn't happen with Gboard so I already emailed the developer asking for help. I'm using Wrio keyboard and I had forgotten how weird it is to type on a normal keyboard.

Glad you got it figured out!!

I'm getting roaming non-stop on AT&T in pretty much the entire SoCal. Doesn't make much sense.

While listening to music over a BT speaker, I get an occasional quiet spot/blip. Not even a second, but a little hiccup. Also, WIFI calling for TMO has not worked since the upgrade. I have WIFI preferred set but it doesn't happen.

Reset the APM, reboot, and it should clear. Mine would not tell me if I was on LTE or not until I did that after the upgrade.

Twitter is aware and claiming responsibility. It has to do with their code hitting a non-API call which is no longer part of future Abdroid updares.

I am not sure if any of you got the same thing but since the last security update a few days ago on Oreo 8.1, the old Smart Lock disappearing has come back...
It was solved after installing Oreo but it is now happening again!
Do any of you have the same problem again?
Thanks

Sorry to hear you're having issues again. I did have this with 7.1.1 but since Oreo not a problem, even after the latest security update.

On 8.1 official. Since the OTA upgrade from 8.1B3, I'm noticing lag on a daily basis that forces me to re-boot to get rid of the lag. I won't call it a freeze, but things slow to a crawl on any apps that require any connectivity to obtain data. Re-writing and everything returns to normal.

Did you factory reset after the upgrade?

I'm not seeing that issues.
I went from 8.0B3 -> 8.1B1 -> 8.1 Release -> 8.1 April
