Oreo Slowness

Since the Oreo update, things have slowed down a lot. Mostly with the launcher. Pressing the apps button or swiping to see the apps list sometimes takes 2 full seconds for a response. I initially wiped the phone and setup things from scratch. That worked for the first day and then back to more of the same. Restarting alone does not help. Wiping the cache partition from the boot menu and then starting up gives about 8-10 hours of usefulness before the responsiveness again subsides. Samsung support offered no suggestions other than to have somebody look at it (walk in or mail in).

Make sure you go through every app for updates. Including the Samsung apps and check the menu for each app like messaging and phone. I had the same issue and some apps were not updating fast enough for my liking. I also cleared the partition. Also forget all wifi and load manually. Been good so far. Another issue could be restoring if something is a miss in your backup it could put you right back to the same issue.

Could possibly an app not updated to Oreo. I've seen no lag whatsoever. However I just got my first errant reboot while the phone was in my pocket. Only hiccup so far.

I agree with the others. I'm thinking some app is causing it because my Note on Oreo is as smooth as ever. Also because the slowness did not start right away - maybe after you added something. Might be a tough one for you to track down though. :-(

Oreo installed Monday. I 'wiped and reloaded' Wednesday night. It's now Friday morning and I've seen no further updates available for either Play Store or Amazon Appstore apps. The same goes for Samsung apps having checked in both Galaxy Apps and in individual ones on their About pages. I would be most interested to see if an update becomes available for the launcher as it is essentially the only thing that is slow. Expected performance within individual apps is not affected.

Well now that seems to be a problem right there. Should be tons of updating going on after oreo.

I wouldn't necessarily agree since all apps have been installed fresh in the last couple days.

Could be a corrupt download. Seen that in the past. May have to download online and see if you can flash fresh.
