how long does one plus support phones with android? i ask because ive considered the 8 (reg) and an iphone (11 or 12 or xs). would prefer not to get a phone that 1 year of support (i keep phones for 4+ years)

does oneplus have a homescreen (the shelf?) that looks like apples today's view? Is there a limit on widgets?

side note: (is there a silent mode switch/button on the physical outside of the device to make that easier than the volume? just wondering)

OnePlus promise to give 2 years of new Android version updates and 3 years of security patches. After that you can try custom ROMs from there community.

I don't know how Apple's Today's view work so no help there. The new OnePlus launcher lets you switch between OP Shelf and Google's Discover.

No, there's no limit for how many widgets you add to your home screen and being Android, you can even improve your homescreen with custom launchers and thousands of different widgets from apps like KWGT.

so the shelf is a scroll down?

this is apple's version: https://support.apple.com/hi-in/guide/iphone/iphb8f1bf206/ios

is there a slider to silent mode the phone?

is the phone worth it if its only offiical updates for 2 years.....3 years of security? is oneplus consistent?
Yes.

And remember that you can always use Google Discover if you prefer it.

Yes. The physical slider has three positions, ring, vibrate and silent (different feature than DND).

Yes. So far OnePlus has been reliable with their updates promises.

The option to switch to os shelf is available for the USA version ?

And it slides left to right?

Yes, available for the 8 series in the US.

Yes. The latest version for the OP launcher lets you open the Shelf with with a swipe down or from left to right.
