Os update

I want to update my sgs2 2.3 to ICS. Can I do it my self from my phone. Or I need to take it to care center.

The update has to be done by the device manufacturer. If the manufacturer updates then you will receive the update notification.

I was able to upgrade my stock ICS via SAMSUNG KIES on my pc. Once the device was plugged in and I started KIES it said there was an update and the wizard walked me through the steps.

I assume your aren't rooted?

I'd say that the best bet is to go through Samsung KIES.

Install Samsung KIES on your PC and connect the phone to PC. If there is any new firmware, KIES will prompt you to install the latest firmware.

ICS has been released to almost all the versions and carriers by now. So, you are very likely to find the update if you connect to KIES.
