My wife got an OTA update notice for the newest firmware upgrade. So being jealous, I plugged mine into Kies today and I have an update too!

I'm backing up so I'll give more info as I get it.

I didn't get an OTA but I did update Kies Air and then proceeded with the update after. I backed up everything but nothing was erased. I see no difference other than the version and build number changes. But I'm on with this if it helps us to keep being relevant and up-to-date for a year old and over phone.

I updated mine too this afternoon..... :-) I thought it was a jelly bean but it turned out it was minor bug fixes.....

anyone update a rooted GSII? i'm about to do mine (and i did a full NANDROID backup first), but i'm just wondering if anyone ran into any problems with the update on a rooted phone.

okay, just to let everyone know...if you've rooted your T-Mo GSII, this update will REMOVE root access! it also reinstalls any and all carrier bloatware that you may have disabled or removed. i've been playing with it for a little while, and i can't see any noticeable changes. i also ran a couple benchmarks and it's still getting the same results it did before. at this point i'm assuming the only real change is whatever security updates T-Mobile mentioned in their press release.

if you're rooted and plan on installing this, you might want to wait a few days or a week or so to give developers a chance to re-root the updated kernel. otherwise it would probably just make more sense to wait for JB.

Hi all I'm new here, I did a search first and said it couldn't find any thing so I found this treat. I got an alert letting me know I had a update at Kies.
Here is what happens
I hooked up phone SGH-T989 via USB
open Kies
finds my phone tells me there is an update for my phone and asks do I want to update?
I click yes, check off I agree, click install.
It starts the down load hits 100% and everything closes.

Here is what I expected to happen.
It hits 100% it takes control of my phone and updates.
This is what happen when I used it to update from 2.3.6 to 4.0.4

Here is what I have tried.
Uninstalled Kies and reinstalled
Hard reset of phone
Search for answer on internet, found lots but when I open them they all talking about AT&T or Sprint phones or GS3's not T-Mobile SGH-T989
