For those that are rooted, will you be unrooting, re-locking, and setting your phone back to stock to take the OTA update when it comes?

Or will you wait for the first ROM based off the released update?

I'll wait until Scott makes a version of CleanRomICS out of it.

How would we set it back to stock? I think i made a nandroid before I flashed the RUU, but I am not sure.

The devs will tell us what to do after the release happens.

As to your OP, if they leak was the official rom, I'm doing nothing.

If they put Sense 4 on it, I'll run the update.

If the radios are changed, I'll wait a couple of days to see what the verdict is, then decide based on what people say.

I think I'm gonna stick w/ my current setup til the devs bundle up something aside from the (OTA) stock build. I was really hoping for Sense 4.0 in this release. I don't dislike 3.6, I'm just tired of it. Hopiing devs remove the incompatabilities & tidy up a Sense 4.0 lite version for the Rez in short order. If not, patiently waiting for a stable CM9 to meander onto my life, doesn't sound intolerable.

Word.

The people that aren't on at least the latest leak will have to RUU in order to use a ROM. So....both.

I'm gonna give it some time, I'm on CleanROM 4.2 and I'm digging it, we will see what is "improved" with the OTA before I think about doing anything.

I'll be updating to a rom based off the latest OTA. I don't see the point to flashing back to stock, then taking the update and redoing all my shiz yet again. I don't have the patience for that.

I agree....might as well cut out the middle man. Since I'm def flashing a ROM there is no reason to take the OTA unless it comes with a new radio.

Been wanting to install a cleanrom but have been holding off for some reason. Not sure why.

I've been using CleanRom for a while. Runs perfect. Everything amazing except battery life.

Hey guys,
So, I just purchased a Rezound on eBay a few minutes ago. The seller indicates the phone has CleanROM 4.3 on the original firmware, but is willing to revert to GB if requested. I requested the phone to be returned to stock form before shipping to me so I will be able to receive ICS/sense 4.0 when it is released shortly. Also, since i have never rooted/flashed an android phone, I had some concerns the seller could have a hidden program potentially logging sensitive data I enter.

My questions are:
1) Am I better off leaving the phone as described and then having to learn about custom ROMs in a few weeks JUST to get the OTA?
2) Are my security concerns real, or imagined?

I am on an unlimited data plan, so I DO intend to learn how to hotspot the phone for my home PC/travel laptop, which means rooting/tinkering anyway. I guess my biggest concern in data security, followed by wanting to know what sense 3.6/4.0 are about before saying I should have somethig better.

Educated feedback is greatly aprpeciated.

To answer #1: If you're concerned about the security I'd say leave it as is and let someone here walk you through step by step how to return it to stock.

Or he can return it and you can still take the steps necessary to return to stock. Either way returning it to stock by running the last Gingerbread RUU (That's ROM Update Utility to you and me Russ) will wipe the entire phone including the internal SD card. That should take care of any security fears.

The process isn't that difficult as long as you can follow directions. The hardest part is just getting past the fear and getting familiar with the terms used. There are many guides on how to do it plus we're always here to help.

#2: Probably all in your mind but still not a bad idea to wipe the phone clean and have a fresh start and so you have a clear conscious about the matter.

Hit us up here in the Rooting, ROM's, and Hacks section when you do get it. In the meantime, start reading up on how to do it. I'd start by searching the forum for "return rezound back to stock" or "flash rezound GB RUU"...or a Google search would work as well.
