OTA Should Be Live Now

Nothing here in the Baltimore/DC area yet either

but I did notice the second article said this "Verizon recently extended the time for free mobile hotspots for the HTC ThunderBolt."

???? I have not heard anything about vzw extending the free mobile hotspot ... anyone?

So I was reading the 2nd article it said its always good to backup data and settings before any update. I was wondering what is a good app to backup those? Im new to this so dont know much about it. Thanks

I've read that it is being rolled out on Tuesday over on xda. Definitely wouldn't expect it until at least tomorrow. Seems weird to release a update on the weekend.

is there a good way to backup onto pc via usb cable similar to how I used to do on blackberry?

No matter when this update actually rolls out, I hope this statement from the link is true: "Verizon recently extended the time for free mobile hotspots for the HTC ThunderBolt."

'Course, I know they're not doing this just to be nice. They're doing this 'cuz they still haven't figured out a pricing scheme for 4G data. Geeze!

So for us rooted guys (I just rooted to BAMF 1.5), I want to get the updates for the bug fixes mostly... what should my steps be to minimize wiping all my data? I'm new to rooting and basically just followed a youtube vid on how to do everything. Not sure what to do to change/update rom's. Thanks

If you take the update there is a very strong chance you will lose root. The best thing is to not take the update. I think I've read that BAMF 1.6 has the latest updates in it. You may want to check it out. I believe it requires you to flash the latest radio. Which is not hard, but always read up on it first since that will kill your phone if done wrong.

Just got off the phone with a Verizon Rep

I just got off the phone with a Verizon Customer Service Rep in order to switch my DINC to a Moto Razr to avoid having to pay for a data plan I no longer use. Since I had him on the line I asked about the rumored Tbolt update. I heard him type on the computer and he said he indeed saw an update for the Tbolt that is scheduled to be released Tuesday May 2nd. I know you have no reason to believe me but I for one will be checking for an update every 5 minutes on Tuesday, while plugged into a power source of course. TWO MORE DAYS!!!

It will be May 3rd. And we have been told nothing of the MBBC/MHS promo being extended... if it is, I certainly will not be arguing!

Is the thunderbolt a "pull" OTA capable like the droid x? or is it push to where they go in batches on who gets the update?
