ota simple root problems

Alright so I was initially rooted with Unrevoked 3, but then I decided I wanted to full root so I could get nand unlocked. I factory reset and then flashed back to the stock sprint rom and upgraded to the latest update so I could use the OTA simple root program. Everything went smoothly during the rooting process (all 3 times I did it) but nothing that requires root works besides shootme. The wireless tether app won't work nor will the Rom Manager let me do a damn thing. It keeps bringing up the same error message about privileges. Both Rom Manager and the tether DID work with unrevoked 3 but I just can't get anything working with OTA simple root. I'm still an Android noob. Am I doing something wrong?

P.S. Yes I tried fixing permissions in Rom Manager and turning on advanced mode.

Did you follow the video that Simple Root comes with? What part went differently?

Sounds like you're not rooted running an old version of Shootme, which allows the Evo to take screenshots without root.

I suggest following the video with each step.

Sounds like this belongs in the Roms/hax section.

Ps. Unrevoked 3 is a full root, FYI, and so is Simple Root 2. If you installed the update, make sure your using the proper rooting software.

Run the RUU in my thread, and try again.

I followed the video all 3 times. Once I even sync'd what I was doing with the video to make sure I didnt miss crap lol. Oh and I installed shootme from the marketplace all 3 times.

@liquid

I double and triple checked all software versions for everything. Spent like 3 hours trying different crap so I know I wasn't mistaking the software versions or anything.

P.S. Forgot their was a separate thread for these. Feel free to move it mods.

Edit: I should probably add that when the OTA simple root prog was done and my phone booted back up it brought up the HTC boot image not the sprint boot image and in the app screen it had all the HTC crap and dev tools wimax radio settings etc. Just stating this in case people just think I didn't follow the OTA simple root instructions. Seemed like it was to me.

OK, can you flash a custom rom from recovery?

If you can:

1. Flash the first RvU Rom.
2. Restore using The first RUU i have linked on my thread.
3. Root using the original simpleroot.
4. flash any rom your heart desires.

Haven't tried that yet. Only thing I have tried doing is flashing a Rom through Rom manager. But like I said it keeps giving me an error privileges message when I try to install clockwork recovery. Was going to try to manually install everything when I got home today.

Sweet thx for the advice ill give it a shot when I get home.

No worries, Some other people were having issues with that too. Couldnt get the right HBoot on there to flash Cyanogen. But that seemed to work.

I already rooted via command lines, some how broke root, now rooted with unrevoked, I want to do a full root. Would this be the way to go? I am getting SU permissions errors. I have not downloaded any OTA updates. Still have software number 1.32.651.1
