OTA Software Update with rooted phone?

How would I go about getting that software update that is rumored to come out if my phone is rooted? Will it still be sent to my phone?

What I read is that the update will fail if you try it, but I wouldn't even try. You either need to unroot to accept it or wait for custom roms to come out with it built into them.

I think that right anyway. :)

*If* you just rooted the phone and did NOTHING else (did not remove bloatware, install custom ROM, etc), then the OTA should work just fine, but there's a good chance you'll lose root access, and there's also a possibility it wouldn't work at all anyway...and why would you root a phone to do absolutely nothing with it?!?

If you've taken the leap and gained root access to your phone (w/ S-off), you best bet is to wait for a ROM based off of the new update. Often there will be ROMs that are nothing more than the stock OS with root access enabled (e.g. "plain jane" ROM).

well basically the only reason i rooted is to get wifi tether. I mean, i dont understand the whole ROM thing too well..I would definitely like to load a custom rom and get rid of bloat and such. Battery improvement would be nice too especially since I have LTE now. Any suggestions as to which ROM I should go with? Or should I just wait for the GB update?

There's really no rush, with the amount of ROMs out there coming out every day it seems it will only be a few days before a ROM is based off the update anyways. Be patient.

Exactly! Once an OTA arrives developers will build ROMs off of it fairly quickly I'm sure. Since there are already GB ROMs all they would have to do is make adjustments to the OTA to make their mods work (I'm only assuming lol).
