OTA Update on Hero?

I was just on my phone and got a message to update to 2.27.651.6??? Whats this for? Anyone know?

If you are not rooted and have no interest in rooting then update. I believe it was a patch for the rooting vulnerability exposed.

But let's be fair, a patch for an exploit is a lot easier to do than a severely large upgrade to an entire OS.

If you use the RUU from before the patch that got us to 2.1 you can root again. I just did it and it works perfectly.

The software version of the RUU you want to use is 2.27.651.5

This will get you back to the original 2.1 update that can then be rooted.

Yah until they decide to put another update out that won't allow to go back to the original 2.1 update in order not to root, LOL
