OTA Update using Wicked Sensations?

Woke up this morning to an update. I'm using Wicked Sensations ROM ( Which I have to highly recommend btw, even tho I am a n00b at the ROM thing)
I didn't think updates worked with this rom? ( Or any rom for that matter ).
So I clicked update now, and waited the 10 seconds.
Sammy booted into recovery mode, and I got stumped on what to do, so I just rebooted again from there.
Nothing changed, and a manual check is telling me I'm up to date.
Again, I'm a n00b at the whole ROM thing. Is this supposed to update while rooted and on a ROM?

You are correct. You won't be updated while on a custom rom.

When jelly bean arrives, how will we be able to install it? Do we have to go back to stock?

You can do that very easy now. There is a one flash in recovery method to go back to stock unrooted LI3.

Or you can wait a day or so until the developers start updating the roms with the official builds.
