Never even heard of OTG but I'm looking to buy a cheap camera and it says your phone must support OTG. Will I be okay?

Ummm, OTG is just a fancy way of saying that it's a cable with a converter from the normal USB plug to the microUSB plug for most Android devices. HOWEVER, your phone/tablet must support OTG devices and be able to use them (most only support generic storage devices). If the camera needs a Windows/Mac driver, then you probably won't be able to use it on your phone.

Now, if the camera you're looking at claims to work with Android devices supporting OTG, then it should, maybe with their own app. The Moto X 2014 does support OTG.

Thank you. It says Android 4.3 or better so I'm on 5.0, that part shouldn't be a problem. It looks like its micro usb.....let me see if I can paste a link......

Mmm...well, it's already microUSB which means you won't need the adapter, but what makes me doubt is the second part of their disclaimer: your phone must support connection to external cameras. THAT I'm not sure if you can with the Moto X 2014. Honestly, I've never connected an external camera myself, so I can only vouch for connecting storage devices.

Well, I just ordered one, so we shall see haha. Hopefully I get lucky and it works. I have a leak behind my wall so before I start tearing stuff apart this would be really helpful.

Yeah, and please let us know if and how it works! This looks like a neat thing to have around, even just for show haha.

So....it arrived. I got it to light up, obviously because the USB port had power. I had flashes of life....but either the cord is bad, or this thing simply don't work. I'm gonna try to load the pc driver on my windows 10 netbook and see if I have any luck. Keep ya posted.
