Otter Box Defender Series no Screen protector

Was surprised to see no Screen protector on this defender and I think that's great was planing on returning not now looks amazing

Notice how the side for the FPS slides in will make it so much easier

I got a customized one w a royal blue shell and Black outer layer. I understand that after release, there is a Defender coming with a screen protector. I am trying the Alpha Glass tempered glass as this is my first curved display device.

Otterbox told me directly via email a few days ago there will be no defender case with an included screen protector. "I'm sorry, we do not planning on making a defender with a built in screen protector for this phone, but the Alpha glass does work great with the Defender. Please let us know if you have any more questions."

I don't mind it not having a screen protector. The S7 Edge one used a thicker material that was tight fitting however was not very responsive. Overall I don't like the $60 price tag. The material on this defender and overall quality is cheap compared to the S7 ones for example. I think $35 is better. I have one and will be using it but didn't want to pay $60 and waiting for amazon to discount it a couple months later. Overall it's still the best case out there for it right now probably.

The iblason Armor Box has a similar design and is a lot cheaper. The clear Symmetry series case looks nice but the protection level is very iffy on them.

Bulk is in the eye of the beholder. I actually have mine and it's not that bad. I am confident that my GS8 will still be pocketable even for a large guy like me. Since AT&T is making me purchase the phone outright instead of subsidizing a portion of the price if, like me, you have been a loyal customer for almost 25 years, I want tried and true drop protection, mainly due to my penchant on very rare occasions dropping it. I referenced the possibility of a screen protector coming later based on a review of the case on YouTube. I realize that YouTube comments are always accurate. I am trying Alpha Glass tempered glass protector which will be a first as is the curved display of the GS8.

That's cool. As I mentioned earlier, my comment was based on a YouTube reviewers comment and I realize that like on the Internet that not everything is necessarily true and/or accurate.

I am happy to see that they did not put in a screen protector. Their built in screen protectors are horrible especially on a curved screen. This is a good move by otter

Got mine, I went to the store to pre order the phone and they had the defenders there. I like this version a lot, not too bulky but still very protective

After putting it on my S8 Plus today it isn't a bad case! It does creek a bit though and mushy on the sides. I might order a couple more defender style cases just to have such as the Unicorn Beetle and I Blason and maybe a Symmetry. What does everyone think of the Symmetry protection wise?

I have the Defender with the Alpha Glass and it seems like a pretty good combo.

Alpha Glass will be here Tuesday. This Defender has to have the slimmest profile of any that I have had on past galaxy smartphones.
