Our shiny new EB01 froyo rom has screen capture built in. I was trying to figure out which screen capture app works best and I stumbled across a thread in the xda forums for froyo screen capture. To activate press and HOLD the back key(soft key) and press the power button. You will hear a camera click and the screen shot will be saved to your SD card automatically. Under ScreenCapture. No 3rd party apps needed! ENJOY!

This was a feature of DL30 also. Only thing it's good for is taking screenshots of your homescreen. Anything else and it just goes back.

It works for me! Will capture and save any page I have open. Including browser, Im not sure I understand what you mean by "goes back".

goes back as in as soon as you put your finger on the back button, your phone goes back to the previous screen

It seems to work a little better in EB01 but a lot of the apps either go back or close if you hold the back button. Either way, I recommend shootme

Oh gotcha! Well it works great for me ive tested with every app i have and if you hold back button til it vibrates and click power ir seems to work well. Just a matter of preference. I just tried shoot me and that works great. Thanks ill most likely keep shoot me too. But its still nice to have stock option. Thanks

So... uh... no one mentioned how to do it?

Okay, one person almost said how to do this, but I will just to clear it up.

You push the back button then the power button while holding back. I don't know anything about vibrating because I don't have to wait for that... but hey, maybe I'm on a different version.

Relax, he did say how to do it, but also if you read the first post in this thread he realized this was not the right area to post this thread and wrote that he posted the thread in the General Verizon Fascinate area. If you look at the top of the page you will see a string of blue words separated by a bunch of these > If you were to click on the words Verizon Fascinate, that would take you to the General Info threads for the Fascinate and you would see the same title of this thread there, and if you clicked on that thread you would have your answer. But here I'll make it easy for you:

If you hold the back button and press the power button immediately afterwards, you can get it to take a screen capture without going back. You have to be sure to hold the back button and then press the power button, though. It took a little practice for me to get it right.

Very cool.
My only gripe with that is going back when you press the back key.
Otherwise excellent info.

I have the same issue. Cant get the timing right. The moment I press the back button, it goes back before i can press the power button. :/ I'm on EB01 Superclean 2.4.

Personally, I hate that "shake to take a pic" thingy of shootme. Drocap2 works great for me. It also has that shake option which I never use. The other two being Timer shot(easy and simple,my favorite) and Notification bar mode (wherein it shows an icon in the notification bar at the top. You can pull down the notification bar and click the icon to take pic on whichever screen you are.

Yeah, I've had limited success with this myself. I still prefer Shootme, but at the same time, Shootme doesn't seem to remain running in the background like it used to. Meaning, I have to restart it a lot.

Hmm, did some playing around with this.

If you hold your finger on the back button, there is a 1-2 second pause and then the button vibrates (assuming you have Haptic feedback enabled). If you press the power button during that pause, you should be able to successfully capture the screen you're on without it going back.
