Outlook/Office sync

I am trying to convince my mother to give up the Blackberry and go Android. Her main reason not to was something about office/outlook not syncing or some such like her Blackberry does. Is this true with todays Android phones or will it do everything her old BB do and more so she can give up the old tech and be assimilated lol.

I would like to tell you that it does everything but unfortunately Android is missing a few features. Email, Calendar, and Contact synchronization will be excellent on almost all Android devices. However, most will be missing Task and Notes synchronization with Outlook.

I use my device for a mix of work and personal, even though I do have a BlackBerry (right now) dedicated to work use, and find that I really would miss those two extras were I to give up the BlackBerry. If your mother does not use Tasks or Notes she will be at no disadvantage by switching to a good Android device and there are work-around options available to fill the gaps.

Also, the Galaxy S II and likely the Galaxy S III offer Notes and Task applications that synchronize properly with Outlook through Exchange, just as they should. This is something Samsung has added as a part of their TouchWiz UI. I'm not aware of any other Android phones that offer these without the user needing to add new applications from the market that often don't sync with Outlook directly.

Actually, you are incorrect. There is a product called Android-Sync that you can purchase online at their website that will sync Outlook Contacts, Calendar, Notes and Tasks. Soon they will be adding an IE bookmarks sync. I have been using this product for almost 8 months with all of my Android devices without any issues. The developer is always updating and adding features to the app. This app will sync all of the same information that Blackberry Desktop Manager does with Outlook.

Unless I am missing something my biggest pain point moving off the blackberry is custom alerts. I am in IT and get email alerts that I could classify as level one and set an audible alert on them. As far as I can tell I will need to purchase Touchdown to get this capability. Right now I have a rule in outlook to forward those messages to text and alert through gosms. Other options would be welcome if this isn't considered a rude hijacking. If so I would be happy to start another thread.

I downloaded Google Calendar Syn 0.9.4.1 successfully on my work computer. All of my Outlook 2010 appointments dowloaded to my Droid RAZR Maxx except the ones marked as Private. How do I get the Private appts to download to my phone?

What I am hearing..............the galaxy nexus will not import the address book, when I run the sync program ( to my webmail account)
So Far mine has not..........I just thought I had a wrong setting somewhere.
Any simple apps to do this one function ?

Need more details. What is the webmail account? What "sync program"?

I use gSyncit to sync all my Outlook contacts, calendar, tasks, etc. from my Windows 7 PC to my google account. Then everything syncs from google to my phone. Using Jorte for my calendar and tasks and it all works. Both ways. Stuff I enter on the phone goes to google account and then to my Outlook files. Best solution I have found. Not on Exchange server at all.

this. defintely worth the $20. its simply the most complex email/exchange app ive ever seen on any device. its basically like having outlook on your phone.

OPs mom could be right, tho. if your exhange server isnt properly configured and your certs working properly, most android mail apps wont be able to connect.

There are a lot of options that will sync up the calendars and contacts...

I deleted Touchdown once work started saying we aren't supposed to do any work when we're off. I was like..."Okay".... Loved it when I used it though. (They're trying to break us off from information overload...I work at a hospital, and it's open like Vegas...24/7/365)
