Over heating?

I have not had my phone shut down but I have noticed a couple of wired charging using the Google wall charger and cable the phone got hot enough that I noticed and other charging times it did not get hot. I didn't think anything of it as my previous phones an S7 and S8 Galaxy's both did this wired or wireless.

I havent experienced overheating issues while charging but I have experienced the 3XL become warm while playing games like Alto's Odyssey and while using Playground mode in the camera.

Playing the same games in my XS Max or my Essential phone has no issues. It doesn't all the time but sometimes you can really feel the screen get warm when playing those games.

However when I use the Playground mode, it becomes really warm that I could feel the heat even beyond my fabric case.

I saw one person who had that issue with the google wireless charger but I haven’t paid any attention to it really

Kate and I both have the Pixel Stand and Pixel 3 XL's. We both charge mostly with the Pixel Stand. Our phones will get somewhat warm while charging on the Pixel Stand but they definitely don't get hot. The phone will get noticeably warmer when charging with the included fast charging brick and USB-C cable.

Mine has been fine. It did get a little hot watching YouTube the other day on a hot day outside. Other than that nothing else.
Not to the point where it was about to shut down. Nothing much more than how my 2XL ever felt.

Mine gets warm sometimes. It did once gave me a warning message that it was too hot. This was during the initial setup when the phone was installing over 100 apps back from backup. It was also on a wireless charger at the time.

I don't have wireless charging, but I've seen no overheating at all with the device even when using VR.

Playground mode or what used to be the AR stickers always got warm on the 2XL. It does use a lot of processing and battery.

Ive also been using Pixel Stand to charge overnight and noticed its slightly warm but nothing concerning

No mention of wired vs wireless. I know wireless sometimes will do that based on past history with other phones. Either way it's probably an app excessively draining while trying to charge.

Actually it does say I'm the article that it's not tied to one specific form of charging as some are seeing it on wired, third party wireless, and on the Pixel Stand as well.

But isn't this the reason they say not to use a phone while charging? Obviously not to the extent of getting so hot it shuts down, but that using it while charging causes increased heat. I've had phones in the past do this (both from Google and other OEMs, and on smartphones and flip phones). It's why don't do it unless have no other option (say I'm on a call and the battery is getting dangerously low and have no other phone to switch to).

I meant in the sense of if it was more profound in one method over the other which it usually is

I use my old non-Google wireless charger and it doesn't have any issues.

I’ve been using the Pixel stand and haven’t noticed any heating issues. Slightly warm when I grab it off the charger but nothing concerning.
