Overclock Without Rom?

I would really LOVE to overclock my Lg Optimus V, but I'm too lazy to install a custom ROM. Suggestions?

You don't need a custom rom but a custom kernel. No data will be lost as you just wipe cache and dalvik cache. I am also assuming you're rooted?
