The AT&T Captivate (read our review) has been overclocked to 1.2 GHz, which makes the Hummingbird processor faster than it is out of the box, which is already pretty quick. The modder who successfully did this said that the processor is actually capable of a stable 1.6 GHz, so be on the lookout for that soon. If you have a Captivate and are interested in overclocking, click

[kernel] [odin3] Overclock to 1.2 GHz! - xda-developers

Good news for the captivate. The device keeps getting better.

Anyone care to oc their device and run any benchmarks..joeybear?

I'm not skeered to overclock... but I think I will wait a few more days on this one.

I would really like a SetCPU type app that will step it up and down depending on load, which should help with battery life.

But sure, I will probably do it and when I do I will post benchmarks. :D

From what I have read you have to be on the i9000 ROM. Make sure that is done first.

yup...

I am looking at the new stock ROM now, though. Some people say GPS is fixed in it and it has new modem, though USB tether is removed and still no HSUPA.

I am just trying to do the I9000 and keep screwing things up. Does it take a long time in Odin to flash? It has been sitting <ID:0/013> factoryfs.rfs on this for several minutes. Since it is my first attempt at flashing I don't really know how long it takes.

I have done the Odin3 restore a few times... but it always went pretty quick.

Do you have the android with the shovel on your phone screen?

Yeah, did everything as said in the I9000 thread, the only thing I forgot to do was uncheck autoreboot but that shouldn't have caused a hang up. I unplugged to do a Odin 1 click and restored from my ROM backup. Just wondering what I might have done differently. No answers from xda yet.

I guess I am not sure what went wrong either...

Of course I am fairly new to this as well.

Couldn't overclocking it mess the phone up pretty bad? The phone is already really quick with most things.

overclock is stable according to the xda site.

Oc is meant for people who want to get extyra juice out of their device or push its capabilities.
