Overclocking question

Hello, I have looked around several android forums and this one has been my favorite, so I have a question to ask :)

Using my OV, if I used SetCPU to overclock my phone to.. let's say 700. That is only 100 over the 600 it comes clocked at if I am not mistaken. Would I be able to even notice this slight difference? And what would this do to my phone overall? Would I notice less battery life or would my phone have a shorter life span?

And if I wouldn't notice that, would I really notice the 768 limit set on the OV, would I notice this?

Thank you in advance, I'm sorry if I asked too much lol :P

And if it means anything I have Rodimus flashed on my phone because I hear it was great at increasing the speed and battery life, if you have a better ROM to suggest please feel free to do so :D

I suggest bumblebee for the best speed and battery life. 806 is the best for battery life. Higher speeds use less power on this phone.

Using one of the cm7 rims myself from the Optimus S and its pretty impressive. I liked bumblebee far mor than romidus.

As far as overclocking, I have mine set at 844 for both the min and max, and it's a fairly big increase in performance without loosing much battery wise. Could go almost 2 days on a single charge when using bumblebee set at 844mhz min/max.

Yea its best to keep the max and min the same. If you want the best battery life set it to 806-806 with performance governor. Not sure if speed is noticeable.

Actually, keeping your min that high will be detrimental to battery life in most cases. I would recommend a min of 480-600, and a max one or two levels below what you think is stable.

Really? Bumblebee increases the battery life that dramatically?

And also there is a bit of contradiction here lol. What would somebody suggest overclocking my phone to just to make some apps run better?

Also, would upgrading to a CN7 gingerbread mod increase my speed and battery life? Or should I just go from Rodimus to Bumblebee? I really don't like flashin ROM's too often as to constantly re-install all of my apps using Titanium back-up is quite a bother. So what would you guys suggest for that? And I am very thankful for any help I get, and once I'm a little more experienced with the Android scene I plan on helping as mush as I can :)

Stick to bumblebee. Cm7 roms are known to not have good battery life because of all the extra features and stuff.

OK will do thanks :)

I will flash to bumblebee most likely tomorrow. Thanks for all of the advice guys.

I'm running cm7 ath3nos port, and my battery life is a little worse than 2.2, but it feels like it runs faster than any 2.2 rom as well. There are pros and cons for every rom, although they're all debatable. I stick with cm7. And mine stays 600-806 and usually lasts all morning, day, and part of the night.

Ok guys I have flashed the Bumblebee ROM without an issue, got all of my apps back with Titanium back-up and all has gone according to plan.

Except, I'm trying to put New Market onto my phone. I had it when I was on Rodimus yesterday, but since I switched to Bumblebee (which is awesome by the way) it says "Application not installed". I really prefer that market over the stock Android market which is rather ugly to be honest.

Any help please?

Try and move it to the sd card?

If your only concern is battery life, definitely go with BumbleBee or Harmonia.

If you are interested in getting the most out of your phone, CM7 is the way to go! Once you use a CM7 rom for a while, you might not ever go back. ;)

Your overclock will effect your battery life dependant upon how you use your phone. If you use apps often that require a high clock speed, you don't want your minimum set too low, ramping up to speed takes extra juice.

Best bet, take a week, try a different min/max combo each day, and then make a decision based on the results. This way, your decision will be based not only on battery life, but on how you like the performance of a particular setting.

Go BB 787/787

careful! lots of the optimus phones won't OC past 787 without fouling up and rebooting.
mine, for example, won't go past 787, 806 makes it reboot pretty quickly.

when you're testing, don't check any "apply settings on boot" boxes for cpu settings until you're sure your OC setting is good for you own phone, or it might not boot and you'll have to reflash your rom.

We can't get movies with tgr new market can we? I saw an option for it in the triumph section, but wasn't there when I tried the new market.
