What is the best app for overclocking free or paid....I am in the process of flashing reborn....what is the most I can get from my Optimus 2 after overclocking without burning up the phone? or is that possible?

You can use one of these Apps: setCpu(paid), MasterCpu for root users(paid), Nofrills(free i do believe). (There is also MasterCpu (free) less options then the mastercpu for root users version).
Each Optimus S is different in how it can handle overclocking, Some Optimus S can go up to 846 Mhz while others can not go over the 748 Mhz with out it rebooting! You just have to try and see what your phone can handle, If you set it to high it will reboot. Until you know what your phone can handle do not check mark the able on boot Box. So that way if your phone starts rebooting you can turn it down.

My rom has a overclock setting in the settings menu but I also coughed up $2 for set CPU. The profile option was too much to pass up. There's a thread in the "rooting, Roms and hacks" section done by a senior member that's as informative as it gets if you wanna learn more about set CPU and profiles. Check it out. And like blackops said every device is different. I also like set CPU b/c you can monitor phone temperature from the widget.
