Is there a way to overclock the new updated SCH-I500 Fascinate? Take it easy on me plz....

Just rooted...using bloat freeze...trying to speed up phone. Thanks. Apologize if this is a repeat but couldn't find a post on overclocking after the new update (SCH-I500)

The only way to overclock is by using a kernel that supports it. What update are you talkng about? EA28? The devs are pouring all their resources into 2.2 and 2.3, so you wont find any development for that build

You can upgrade to EB01 (Superclean 2.4 Voodoo/non voodoo) and you will see user interface improvements... You can also increase the speed of transitions in Superclean 2.4 (spare parts) to give the feel of increased speed during transitions.

Currently there are no overclockable kernels for any 2.2 or 2.3 build.

Hope to be coming soon.

Thanks much for the replies! I guess ill dig into kernels/Roms/ flashing etc...

The thing that Sucks is I have a Mac and there's the mounting issue. I have used the terminal work around but it makes it very difficult to do any flashing. Its hard enough to do it without added complications.

I have downloaded kernels and some ROMs directly to my phone and flashed from there.

If you choose to go that route with EB01 remember to use the new version of CWM for installing Froyo based ROMs.

What is CWM? Also, if I choose to do it directly from phone do you have a suggestion for which one to use? Where would I get it? Where would I find instructions? If it is described somewhere I am savvy enough to get it done. Thx

CWM - Clockwork Mod Recovery. It is an application that helps to manage backups and restoration of ROMs.. it also flashes zip files onto your phone. A must have for applying ROMs and Kernels to your phone.

I have found that some people set up up dropbox accounts and transfer the files to the dropbox then that allows them to pull the file to the phone. You can check out dropbox online and there is an app in the market.

There is also the option to download to the phone directly n via the browser in some cases.

Currently you can download ROMs/Themes/ and Kernels using ROM Manager (app from the market).. Do research (lots) regarding the ROM/Theme or Kernel that you choose to download and install - it may not be compatible with what you have installed and you can put your phone into a force close loop or brick it.. search for the developer page on the internet.

There are some ideas.

And this helps you to understand a lot of the terms if you don't already:

I appreciate the helpful posts! I have recently switched from crackberry forums where it seemed people have zero tolerance for people that didn't know a lot about phones-noobs. It is fun to learn especially from people who are willing to teach. Keep up the good work guys! unreal

Welcome to Android Central.. You will find a lot of Crackberry ex-pats here.

Lots of very helpful peoples. If there is an problem with a Fascinate chances are someone, or most of us, here have worked their way through it.
