Owning both the HTC One X and the Galaxy S3

I picked up my Galaxy S3 today and have owned a One X for the last month or so... Biggest differences so far.... The One X looks better whereas the S3 feels better in hand. The screen on the One X is hands down the better display. The S3's colors are a little too saturated and the US version doesn't have the screen mode option that the international version does. The S3 is much smoother, though and the browser on it is much, much better. I was never a fan of Touchwiz but I can deal with it for now. Visually the software on the One X is better in every way, Sense 4's finishing touches are much more polished than Touchwiz yet not as smooth and sometimes very glitchy. I haven't had enough time with the S3 to test the camera, although the interface on the One X looks better. The same goes for battery life, but I will report back with my findings. Both phones are awesome in their own right and any one is a great choice honestly. Enjoy.

Completely agree with you on your take. I had both devices and prefer the GS3 to the HOX.

Were you saying that you thought the battery was better on the HOX? Cause I've found that the battery is better for me on the GS3.

I haven't spent enough time with the S3 to really test battery life, but so far it seems as good if not better than the One X. For some reason every HTC phone I've owned falls a little short when it comes to performance compared to its Samsung competition. It seems that Samsung just has it figured out. The Galaxy S2 was smoother than the One X in my time with it. I am definitely enjoying the S3 so far. Thanks.

You are lucky that you have brought One X. The software of GS III is better than One X now because of the Android version. One X is running in Android 4.0.3 and GS III is running in Android 4.0.4. Android 4.0.3 will not run the launcher smoothly but Android 4.0.4 does.
Quadrant benchmark:
One X (Android 4.0.3 with Sense): About 4900 scores
GS III (Android 4.0.4 with Touchwiz): About 5300 scores
However,
HTC is ready to upgrade to Android 4.0.4 with Sense for One X (Leaked ROM).
Quadrant benchmark:
One X (Android 4.0.4 with Sense): About 5800 scores.
With Android 4.0.4 (+Sense) in One X,
no more overheat, lag in homescreen, lose of battery, 3-dots menu button...
So,
the people who are comparing both One X and GS III are not fair now.

Awesome!! I hope they do update it.. I love the One X. If not for the little glitches and Sense crashes that won't stop no matter how many resets and cache clearing I do I would've totally kept it as my personal device. I love everything else about it. For now though, I'm sticking with the S3.

Thanks

I have both devices to and I prefer the SG3 as well. I like the screen better on the sg3, i have a samsung plasma and I am used to vivid colors and I like the saturated colors as they really pop on the screen just like they do on the sg3. The one x screen is really nice, but so far i have not missed it at all, although i do miss how sleek the HTC design was, it was a cool looking phone. Of course with a case the design is lost. I think the 2gb of ram really helps the sg3 run smoother then the one x, it just seems smoother and faster and the sg3 multitasks like a champ. Samsung TW is a little different, which is why apple could not sue them lol, the one x is a lot like apple. I see very little differences in it from my one x, although I'm sure there are quite a few. As far as cameras go I did my own side by sides today, one x seemed to do a better job indoors with little light. The sg3 took better pictures outside and with more light indoors. All in all I think the sg3 is the better phone, but the one x is a big contender.

After 4 days with my sg3 I can safely say I am happy that I put my one x up for sale yesterday.

Pretty funny that you complain that people are comparing current models with each other. How else would you do a fair comparison? In your attempt to make the HOX look better you cite a custom ROM that has custom kernels as proof that the HOX is better than the SG III. What is fair about that? Also if you read the ROM thread you posted you will see that the ROM you seem to love is actually far from stable.

Having used both phones, anything about the One X you say is better is just an opinion and is purely subjective. The screen is probably the closest thing to a "fact", but there's people who like the S3 screen better. Camera is not better. Design is not better, sense is not better; those are just opinions.

The S3 is the faster device. That's been proven. It has more innovative features you can't find on the One X. Battery life is better and will only get better with updates. Cell standby is using a lot of battery and I'm still getting over a day easily. You can remove the battery. It has an SD card slot. It has a bigger screen. I'm fairly certain it's thinner. The One X is a great phone and some people will prefer it to the S3, but overall the S3 is the superior device. Just not by as wide a margin as last year with the S2.

My husband has the one x and I have the sg3. I prefer galaxy but the one x camera is much better and it's screen brightness

I find that the camera as a whole on the S3 is better. Maybe a very, very slight edge to the software/interface on the One X, but the pictures I've taken so far have been better under low light than my One X. It's not an in-your-face type of better, but the reason I say the S3 is better is because the video is better. It's a toss up for the most part on the camera side, but S3 hands-down on the video side. So overall, I'd want the S3.

I've owned and used both devices. But, for me, the S III wins. Albeit I do like how the HOX is not as slippery as the S III...

I hope my case gets delivered today!

I have both, and I haven't used the HOX since my GSIII arrived. I'm not looking back at all.

And I have just the opposite, I think the outside pictures are better on the sg3, and in low light better on one x..... interesting

Did you take a look at the pictures robstunner posted in the Dislike thread? One X looked better in his outside pictures and the S3 looked better in low light.

The one x actually takes really great low light shots, as long as you do not mind not having the shadows. It's like it does a auto brightness or something because the lighting does not match real life. The SG3 captures it as it looks in real life so it looks darker in low light.

The HOX was disappointing. The S3 is a super phone. Nothing close right now. At one time I loved sense but it slow and sluggish compared to the S3s touchwiz.

I have question for you. I have a Sensory Hearing Deficit .....which has more volume, louder- I currently have aAtrix2- are either nearly as loud as the A2?
You. Mention the display is Hands down better on the OneX, can you be clearer. Did you have to up the brightness on the S3?
Than you!

OK, for me the display on the One X is much brighter and slightly sharper to the eye. The colors are also more natural. The speaker on the rear of the GS3 is louder as well as the earpiece in my opinion. Battery life is really good thus far as well.
