Has anyone heard of this rumor? Supposedly, Android or Google is developing a messaging app that well allow Droid users to be assigned a PIN and use BlackBerry Messenger. If this is true, all of us former BlackBerry users will be even more excited about the decision to switch.

idk how rim would allow this since a lot of people hold on to their bb for this one reason only (other than those who use it for business related) I have a feeling if RIM allows this then their sales would drop drastically. That's not to say i don't want this...I would love to get a BBM app going for my Incredible. The void i have will b filled and I'll b extremely happy.
*fingers crossed, hoping this happens*

It will never happen... you dont just need a PIN you need access to the Blackberry Network for BBM to work... This same BS was said on my old WINMO Days the BBM Program can be ported over but it never worked

PINS are connected to Blackberry hardware devices, and RIM makes money from people using said devices through their BIS & BES servers. They aren't going to take on messaging bandwidth from other platforms/devices. Why on Earth would they do that? They gain nothing and have the added expense of people not even paying for their service using their servers.

Those rumors keep popping up every few weeks and are usually started from a troll on a developer forum claiming he has the super awesome hack program coming.....but it never does.

Rim will never let it happen. At this point gtalk is our bbm

Not just Gtalk, but AIM, Yahoo Messenger ect....these are all platform independent "free" messaging programs over your data line. Why people are so stuck on BBM is weird to me. With any of the IM programs you have instant free messaging to any smartphone platform (including Blackberry). BBM is only blackberry.

Round my way if you had a Blackberry which meant you had BBM it was something everyone couldn't have. Now they give Blackberry phones away for free and there are so many other social networks available that it doesn't have the same thunder. That being said I'm still not getting rid of my Blackberry for the simple reason of Fantasy Football. My whole league has one and we all communicate through our chatroom on there. Other then that I would let my 6yr old have it and be like the other 4 yr olds with cell phones... joking

there is a p messenger app. It is a pin based program and is cross platform (android, blackberry, iphone, and i even believe symbian). However it has nothing to do wiith blackberry pins and is no where near as full featured or widespread.
