p2xl vs essential

wow talk about apple and oranges. one is a premium phone and the other a mid ranger.
the only thing going for the essential is its form factor in case you prefer smaller phone. otherwise you cant compare them. the pixel is better in every aspect by miles.

I don't necessarily agree with you. The essential has a lot going for it for half the price.

Both are premium devices. The main difference is the lack of ongoing class action lawsuits. Pixel owners definitely know what a premium phone should be, I will give you that. Hence the reason some of them are suing Google.

I have a Pixel 2 XL and an Essential phone. While being an LCD, the Essential phone screen is fantastic and very vibrant. I would say I prefer the look of it's screen to the 2 XL. I also have the 8.1 beta and many issues have been addressed, not the least of which is touch latency. It is very much improved. I really like the phone. It's looks great as well.

However, my 2XL is awesome everywhere else. The camera beats the crap out of everything else I have including my iPhone X and 8 plus and, unfortunately, my Essential phone. I'm lucky in the fact that I have options to play with, but it's also a dilemma on which one I want to use from day to day. Lol...

That's a good problem to have!

If your really into photography and not just GAS you quickly realize the camera has very little to do with taking great pictures. I own real glass too but most of the pictures I am most proud of came from a phone because it is what I had with me at the time.

I do agree with other posters that the deficiencia of the essential camera are way over played. It is by no stretch of the imagination a bad camera.

Exactly.
I don't consider the Essential a bad camera.
I've had bad cameras.

Right now my throw around is a Samsung NX300 Wirth some decent glass.
My other cameras are a 7D and a 7D II and I only shoot with canon L glass.

And you are right.
The best camera is the one you have with you so you don't miss the shot.
That is always my cell phone then my Samsung.
My Canon cameras are when I'm planning to do a photo shoot.

The Essential deficiencies are being overplayed.
Does it take pictures better than everything else out there?
Nope, but I love the 360 camera, and it was free.

Why do you bash the Essential on multiple forums?
If you really don't like the phone, then don't use it.
But you are in an Essential forum trying to make a case for the Pixel being a better phone.

The construction of the Essential is better.
Except for the camera the phones are mostly the same with the same performance.
The screen on the Essential is a LCD but it's bright and accurately calibrated.
I have used a Pixel. My daughter has a Galaxy S8. I have friends and family with every variant of modern iPhone and the PH-1 is every bit a premium phone as those others.

I wouldn't say the Essential Phone is midrange. Of course, it has less "bells and whistles" when compared to phones like the Pixel - like water resistance - but I'd still say it's closer to a flagship. Its upcoming iteration will hopefully close the gap a bit more, hopefully with some water resistance and a more stable camera.

The Essential with the latest 2-28-2018 Lineage 15.1 is an amazing phone that software was holding it back. The Essential is built better and the screen is in another league. The Pixel 2 screen is not good and is an ugly phone but has better IP rating and camera though not by much over the software updates for the essential. Had the pick of all the phones and choose the Essential because I was sick of how other manufactures were shoving down our throats inferior build quality. When the Essential 2 comes out I will buy one no questions asked...

Most of us agree with you but how do you get around the ****ty antenna? Couldn't get service on TMobile in Manhattan when it's probably one of the best networks in the entire city.
