Package Stolen and Samsung Not Refunding!

Apparently since my Samsung.com order included the trade in, the value of the order did not exceed $500 and no signature was required upon delivery. FedEx was so brilliant as to leave the package outside of my apartment building even though there's a sign in front of our building that clearly asks for people not to, and now my package has been stolen.

Samsung has requested a police report in order to issue me a refund, and when I sent them my police report, they are rejecting it because my precinct did not print out the city emblem on the report. When they sent me requirements of the police report, none of the requirements included an emblem. I've been contacting them daily since Wednesday when this occurred and have not gotten anywhere with them. They apologize that my package has been stolen and say they will help when I provide a police report with all the requirements.

Once the trade-in charges appear on my card, I'll be out $1000. I could use my renter's insurance but I'd still be losing my $500 deductible.

I'm sure my police department will look at me funny if I request a report re-printed on a form with an emblem, but it looks like I might have to make a trip down there soon...Any ideas on how to get better support from Samsung?!?

Well you would think an official police report would show city emblem to show you just didn't do on ms word. If you go and pick up the report would it be on their official document?

That really sucks, dude. It should be FedEx's fault for leaving the package outside. Hopefully, you'll get this resolved and Samsung will blacklist the IMEI number for that stolen phone so the scumbag thief can't use or sell that phone.

The police report has a unique incident report number that is easily verifiable through the police department, including the approved officer declaration. If I were to generate a fake police report in Word, I could easily drop in a city emblem as well so I don't understand how a photo of an emblem makes the report more legit.

This was all done over the phone and online due to the pandemic. I'll make the trip down to police station on Monday to see what my options are.

FedEx is not taking responsibility because Samsung set up shipping without requiring signature so release authorization was given to leave the package (even though it's not smart to leave a package outside of an apartment building on a busy street in an urban city).

I ordered through Sprint and they left the box right at the door. I went out there the second I refreshed the screen and it showed "Delivered".

Wow that just sucks! Sorry that happened to you. I'm worried now cause Hubby took off work yesterday and we were supposed to get our phones and never did. We don't know when they are coming now the date on the website went away it doesn't say 1/29 anymore it says nothing. But my husband is off a few days next week too I just need him to be awake and listening cause I don't want Fed-Ex to lightly knock than take the phones away if no one answers quick enough.

What a nightmare. This should be on Fed Ex actually. They even have all over their website that a signature is required. I'd contact their headquarters and complain. How would you even know they actually delivered the item?

I'd go higher up. Much higher.

I would think Samsung's responsibility ended when they gave the package to FedEx. FedEx should definitely take the hit for this. Did you get any kind of information showing signature was supposed to be required? Mine had sig required but I got it for around $400. Still had to sign for it.

When mine was delivered I saw the FedEx truck pulling up so I met the driver at the door and he handed it to me. I'm guessing he would have left it on my doorstep since I didn't need to sign for it.

Wow this is like the worst thing. So sorry this has happened to you. So frustrated when people take things that obviously don't belong to them. Hope you're able to get this issue resolved.

He said Samsung shipped not requiring signature. Can't be Fedex issue if they did that. I have never seen Samsung ship a phone not requiring so I would ask them why they shipped that way.

I live in an apartment building where packages have been stolen from FedEx and UPS and The complex has been flagged by those carrier as "do not leave"

Curious to know If your complex was one of those complexes and you knew you had a package coming Why didn't you get Text alerts every time the package has been updated? Weren't you expecting your phone?

Probably due to covid. That's likely something Samsung worked out with the carrier. My iPhone 12 also didn't require a signature. And iPhone deliveries ALWAYS do.

Still, my Fed ex guy refused to leave mine without at least acknowledging I was home. Again, Fed Ex is where my focus would be. You'll get nowhere with Samsung.

My tracking info said signature required, and I had to show up at the door and acknowledge my identity, but I didn't have to sign anything.

Whether it's FedEx or Samsung who's responsible probably depends on what they agreed on between themselves for these shipments. Samsung's request for a police report with an official seal sounds reasonable, and should result in a full refund (which still leaves an unpleasant experience, unfortunately).

Strange, that FedEx didn't require a signature, yet, I wasn't allowed to redirect the delivery to a local FedEx store so I could pick it up later. It seems the only option was to leave the package at the homeowner's door step.

I wish I could redirect. I tried and they stated it's a restriction

The package was never in your possession. Unless you signed a Fedex signature release, leaving the package at your door does not transfer possession to you. If Samsung did not insure, Fedex liability is limited to $100. You can make a claim to FedEx for the stolen package, again, unless you signed a signature release. Samsung is responsible to either deliver the device you paid for or to refund you for the failed delivery. It is their responsibility for not insuring the package and for not requiring an adult signature.

My Fedex guy normally leaves the package at the front door and rings the bell and leaves. This is the second expensive item that they have delivered recently that I thought would require a signature but wasn't noted on the shipping info and my guy rang the bell and waited for me to answer the door and handed it to me. I expect that if I didn't answer he would not have left it.
