Paint palet gone and can't attach picture to event?

[AC Question]

I've got a samsung note 5 (upgraded from the note 2) I loved the splanner and especially loved being able to attach a picture to a calender event eg: pic of a school letter regarding an event ..I took a pic then was able to attach it as an 'image' to a calender event. I'm unable to do this with the note 5????!!!
Also, when I first got the 5, I was able to colour code events...(a little paint palet would appear and you couldcould choose a different colour for particular events)...few months after having it that feature disappeared..then came back but as now disappeared again.....very annoying...can anyone enlighten me on both these features. Thanks in advance

My Note 5 has the color pallet icon located just to the right of the title line.
As for adding a picture, I just did a screen capture of a photo. When I selected the note feature, then selected the text line, the keyboard popped up. I then selected the clipboard and pasted the picture.
Everything seem to work for mine.
