It's important to keep in mind that in Android, empty RAM is wasted RAM, so the system will usually open and keep some apps in RAM (typically so that RAM is about 50-75% full). You'll never see 0% RAM usage. Just because an app is in RAM doesn't mean it's actively using CPU or battery -- as long as it's coded correctly, it should just be paused in the background.

I know that in the iHeart app, it wants to auto-start unless you go into the app's settings and toggle that off. I imagine the same thing is in place in Pandora.

Ok, hopefully they fixed the bug for good!
well, they claimed they fixed the auto-start bug in the latest release. however, upon powering up the phone, the Pandora notification shows up even though it's not running.

they fixed 1 of the 2 issues of the same bug, yet they consider this resolved.

The suggested solution does not work

Setting cog > turn START MUSIC AUTOMATICALLY off ... DOES NOT WORK
Clearing Cache/Data ... DOES NOT WORK
Uninstalling > Reinstalling App ... DOES NOT WORK

Easiest solution is to go into Android Auto > Customization ... then uncheck PANDORA as an AA App ... it will finally stop autostarting ... Pandora is still installed on your phone, if you want to play it via Andorid Auto, you'll need to go back into Customization, and re-enable the app
