There are 3 different panels built into the HTC One. Which of the following panels is yours?

  1. Sharp: 650 Candela, 1500:1 contrast ratio
  2. Samsung M7 C2: 483 Candela, 1100:1 contrast ratio
  3. Samsung M7 C1: 385 Candela, 1100:1 contrast ratio

Here is the way to find out:
1) turn off quickstart in settings/power
2) restart your One
3) open the following file using a text editor (e.g., Jota): /proc/last_ksmg
4) search for "panel_id"

My One is working with the medium Samsung panel (as I expected). The Sharp panel seems to be very rare and for test models only (makes sense as it drains a lot more battery and is not necessary for ervery day life). Hopefully, no-one of you got the Samsung M7 C1

Cheers,
Marcus

I was under the impression that the displays were made by JDI after reading a very long thread on this on XDA some time ago. Has there been new information come out that changed that thinking?

New information = you can see your display data using my walkthrough. As far as I know, there is no JDI.

OK, then where are you getting information?

Mine says PANEL_ID_M7_JDI_SAMSUNG_C2_2

According to a re-read of the XDA thread -

Early samples were found to have PANEL_ID_M7_JDI_SAMSUNG_C2_1 or PANEL_ID_M7_SHARP_RENASIS. Retail vesions appear to all have JDI_Samsung_C2_2

This is interpreted as screen by either JDI or Screen by Sharp with controllers by either Samsung or Renasis.

No one seems to have a retail version with Sharp or the earlier JDI_SAMSUNG C2_1

I have PANEL_ID_M7_SHARP_RENASIS it's a new device after replace my first one. is there something wrong with it beside the noticeable horizontal lines from a specific angle ??

PANEL_ID_M7_JDI_SAMSUNG_C2_2 here. Purchased at Sprint corporate store 5/3.
