Question Partially-Darkened Pics...

Hey everyone:

It's me, again. I've tried looking this up, as well, and couldn't find anything. I'm not sure if it's because my phone will be a year old next week or whatever the case, but some of the pics on my phone have now been darkened, automatically, and I never changed their settings. The first one is the original pic's color, the one after that is what it now looks like.

Mine isn't as dark as theirs but if you look at the 11:52 image you can see it top and bottom. Then in the 11:32 image no letterbox.

Strange. You're zooming in such that the image fills the entire screen, right?

Yes, but also notice how light my grey is compared to the OP's. Even on white it's almost unnoticeable, especially compared to theirs. So it could also be a device, theme or other difference thing

Oh I see what you're referring to now. I think that light grey is associated with the status bar and bottom options bar showing. The 2nd screenshot without the light grey is probably because the status bar and options bar have been toggled off. But the OP showed a screenshot where the status bar and options bar are not showing, and yet the dark grey bars are still present.

No, clearing the storage of the Google Photos app will not affect the photos and videos that are saved on the phone, nor the ones that are in the cloud. It will clear out the app's database, but this gets rebuilt quickly as soon as you reopen the app.

Sadly, it didn't work and it literally looked as if it did.

Update: Somehow, it fixed itself (hopefully, it'll stay that way)!

But the OP showed a screenshot where the status bar and options bar are not showing, and yet the dark grey bars are still present.

I didn't play with it too much but that was the way I was able to reproduce what was described and since they haven't addressed whether or not zooming makes a difference or if the marks remain in the same area at the same size, I'm kind of out of ideas. Plus it is difficult for me to read the responses with colored text or at least that color.

Just so everyone knows, the pic problem happens more often than it doesn't. I'm just figuring my phone's a lemon and there's nothing that can be done.

Again, I truly appreciate everyone's support and help, it definitely means a lot to me.
