I have my phone partially rooted and have Fresh's .2 rom running. I saw where to upgrade you have to have full root. not sure if I want to go that route.. What are some real advantages of going full root? I know the custom roms and all (came from WM, to pre, to Android) but is it just as safe as WM was to put custom roms on? With full root, can I go back to completely stock if something should happen?

The advantage is, NAND is completely unlocked. To the average Joe, the biggest benefit will be the fact that after the full root you gain r/w access to the system directory. Prior to this, that directory is read only. This equates to removing any app you want (yes, even sprint bloatware) anytime you want, directly from your phone. See my instructions at the top of the evo hacks sub-forum, they are stickied.

Regarding going back to stock, absolutely. All you need to do is download the official Sprint RUU and install it. This will replace your recovery image and lock down NAND thereby returning you to stock

Thanks for the info.. I have went completely back to stock... Will have to re-root, and try again... I used titanium to backup all of my apps.. but I had so many that when I restored them, I had to approve each one individually... lol

Went full root, and flashed the Fresh rom... Had some problems that I don't remember being there, so I'm going back to the rooted stock rom.

And dang.. I get the question to update to the sd fix patch... Anyone have a Rooted stock with this already in?

Edit: Found it on xda.

Another good thing about being fully rooted is that most of the roms being updated require you to have the NAND unlock. I went ahead and did the full unlock and am very happy about it. I am running Fresh0.3 and have nothing but good things to say about it. Also, try his radio update. this significantly improved my battery life.
