Password Problem

I have a LG optimus 920. the screen lock password was set on it last night. A password I use regularly. When I attempt to open the phone it tells me the password is incorrect. I contact LG they said I could reset the phone by holding down the 3d button, volume down button and the power button (when the phone is on) for 10 seconds. The only thing that happens is the phone option popup shows up and then the phone turns off, but does not reset. Please help! Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Kristoscdn

Yea, I think they want you to boot into the recovery menu and do a factory reset from there. Like cyan said, do it with the phone off.
