Hey guys/gals
I dont know if alot of you guys have experienced this but I know it was an issue for some international gs3s (made in china ones...like ours) but I just noticed that a pixel in the lower half center of my screen in stuck in an aqua color. It normally wouldnt bother me but shows up mainly in dark pictures taken with the camera and on certain background of the dead pixel detector. I am pretty sure that AMOLED screens dont get stuck pixels, just dead ones. I really dont know what to do now as I was told if I return it I'll get a certified like new replacement (refurb) so I dont know if its worth the risk because the refurb could just be a total dud. I would really appreciate feedback from everyone as to what they think would be best and also if anyone else is noticing stuck/dead pixels on the US GS3

A replacement they sent me had a dead pixel. It was new in box. Sent it back for another. On the second replacement, they tried to give me a warranty replacement instead of NIB. I refused and they finally relented. But they did say that they don't actually have refurbished S3's right now and what I would have gotten even as a warranty replacement would have been a new phone. It just wouldn't have been in a new box with all the accessories/battery/back cover.

I also had my galaxy nexus replaced due to a dead pixel. What I got was a CLN but when I checked the RTN, it was a new phone.

You may want to try one of the apps that is supposed to fix stuck pixels. I always thought a dead pixel is black. If that doesn't work, might as well get it replaced and hope for a new phone. Personally, knowing a dead pixel is there would draw my eye to it every time I looked at the screen.

So I called them and since Im out of the 14 day period they said they had to send a refurb...I'm assuming it should still be fairly newish and if its not I'll call back and make them send a new one. g1toevo678, did they tell you most of the refurbs in their warehouse were new?

They told me they had no refurbished S3's period which makes sense considering how new the phone is, and what they are sending out as CLN's are new phones. I pushed for the NIB and they relented but had to do it as a new order instead of 14 day worry free. They then tried to say they had to charge my credit card; I told them I had been down that road before and it took them a month to credit me back. And the credit, when it finally came, was to my verizon account instead of my credit card. They agreed to just put the charge on my account and credit the same.

Checking RTN is just numbers and symbols on the dialer. I think there's slight variations depending on the phone. I posted in the galaxy nexus forum on how to do it for that phone. Can't recall the exact sequence. You can either search my prior posts or just google it.

Good luck with the replacement. If you're not happy with it, just keep sending it back until you get one that works for you. I had my gnex replaced 3 or 4 times. My droid charge before that like 5 times. They gave me the gnex as free replacement after they couldnt resolve missed calls issue with the charge.
