I have a
Galaxy S5
not rooted
running Marshmallow.

Im having trouble backing up using
My Backup Pro.
And Reware is no help.

With Marshmallow,
can we now backup to the SD card?

And whether backing up to the phone or card,
can someone help me with the path?

I'm getting an error message that the following path is wrong.
Probably is.

Local
storage/emulated/0/reware/mybackup/allbackups

And if you all think I should be using a different backup app, I'd love your input.

Thanks.

That path is pointing to internal storage. You need storage/sdcard0
I bought rerware pro years ago and stopped using it when write permissions in Android were changed. Since then I've used Helium which is PC based. I prefer that as my old S4 used to eat sd cards so my data was hardly secure. I have an S6 Edge now which has no sd card so I have stuck with Helium

So I installed Helium on phone & pc.
Then it keeps asking me to enable PTP. It is enabled.
Then it says, unfortunately, Helium has stopped.
sigh.

Was the SD card formatted as internal (or adoptive)? If so, you can't put anything on it. It's all one big storage location now (internal + SD - which is also considered internal), but you gain the space of the SD card for installing apps.
