Pattern Lock

I just got a HTC Evo and set the screen lock to be the Pattern Lock. Now I want to disable it. I go into my security settings and disable the option, but when I get back into my phone, the patten circles still show up, and I have to do it to access the phone. Another weird thing is when I do the pattern, I don't get the green display, but it works. How can I get rid of this?

I haven't used the pattern lock in a long time and I don't remember this ever happening to me, but have you tried to do a simple reboot to see if it goes away?

A reboot should fix it. Apparently the setting loads on startup so just changing it doesn't do anything immediately.
