Pause, forward, back on Bluetooth headphones not responding.

Has there been any luck any of the 'headphone button controller' type apps? There is a proliferation of them.

So far in my struggle, I have tried one of two but none are effective. I think it because that the headphones themselves intercept button presses (i.e. double click is redial, long press volume is skip etc), then android is next -- making these 3rd party apps only partially effective (quadruple long press can launch my podcast app, not so helpful).

I have had this issue with three different sets of headphones: LG, Soundsters and MPOW and with two different cell phone: Samsung SIII and S4 minis. The only pattern I have found is if I go too long without hitting play, pause, forward or back these controls stop working. This is maddening since I'm usually listening while cycling or jogging and HATE to break my pace to mess with my phone.

It does not matter which app I'm using to listen to music. Killing and restarting the app (usually I use Amazon MP3) will fix the problem temporarily, but it always comes back once I settle in and don't use the controls again for a while.

Have unfortunately found no solution.

I have the same problem with multiple Bluetooth headphones from Jaybird, LG, Motorola, Samsung. It's also worth noting that this happens not only on my 2013 Moto X but also on a couple of cheapo phones I got to use as unactivated media & activity-tracking devices (a Moto G and a LG Optimus Zone 2). It's a minor irritation since I don't like listening to music during intense exercise, so I don't mind the interruption during casual walks/hikes.

BTW, turning these cheap $20-$30 Android phones into a poor man's iPod Touch is working great for me. I don't have to worry about my Moto X getting crushed or soaked while smashing some trails on my mountain bike anymore!
