PC Will Not Recognize USB

My G4 when connected via USB to my Windows 10 PC, the computer doesn't acknowledge the connection. I know the computer isn't broken because I can connect my Droid Turbo and it's immediately recognized.

I've gone through Developer Options and revoked the USB authorizations. I powered my phone off, did a soft reset, and yet, my PC will not do anything more than provide a charge. I've successfully transferred pictures from the G4 to my laptop. I don't know why it's behaving this way.

I'll also go to LG Bridge. My G4 will be charging and LG Air Drive is on too. Still, it won't connect. All I'm trying to do is get a connection from G4 to LG Bridge on PC so I can attempt a software update.

The model is an H-815.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried uninstalling the G4's drivers from Windows and re-installing them? That usually helps if it was working before.

Yes, but it didn't work. I took a half day from work to figure this out. Anyway, I did a hard reset and luckily didn't have to restore much data. My daily driver is a Droid Turbo.

Thanks for chiming in!

Lots of reports suggest that the USB cable is important. Make sure you are using the original cord that came with the phone.

So doing a factory reset worked?

I've been through the same problems & posted my observations elsewhere.

To summarise:

LG Air Drive & LG Bridge, whilst packaged together, ought to be kept apart - like the chicken & the fox - if you are connected by Air, you cannot connect by Bridge.

Once you've tried using Bridge & you (think you) have closed it, it's probably still running in the background (probably designed to auto-launch when you plug in USB but it doesn't work - at least not in Windows 10). It simply won't reconnect if it's already running. Look for it amongst hidden icons in the system tray & close with right-click. Once you're sure it's closed, connect USB (MTP mode) > download driver > allow connection > only then launch LG Bridge. DO NOT press 'Connect' as this is for Air & will prevent a USB Bridge connection.

That was the problem for me a few days ago. I was trying to use a new, expensive cable that I had for charging... but it didn't work for connecting for LG Bridge. Slapped on the LG cable that came with the phone, and it worked right away.
