PenTile?

Note 2 uses 3 sub-pixels for every pixel. But it's not a traditional RGB display. The pixel arrangement is different.

Here's what I found in another forum:

You can clearly see that for every pixel there are 3 sub-pixels. It's not a shared sub-pixel like in a PenTile arrangement. But it's not traditional RGB stripe either.

Whatever it is, I am sure we won;t notice it in normal usage, and I am sure it's better than Note (1).

GSMArena just confirmed that the Note 2 is NOT PenTile.

Interesting. I wonder if the extra .7 inches for the screen gives them enough room to ditch pentile.

Update: apparently it is still pentile, it's just a slightly different version of it.
